If you’re receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) in Nebraska, your case will be reviewed periodically to ensure you still meet the medical and financial eligibility requirements. This process is called a Continuing Disability Review (CDR), and how often it happens depends on your specific condition and the likelihood of improvement.

Find out if you qualify for SSDI benefits. Pre-qualify in 60 seconds for up to $4,018 per month and 12 months back pay.

Please answer a few questions to help us determine your eligibility.

Frequency of SSDI Reviews

The Social Security Administration (SSA) assigns a medical review category to each case:

  • Medical Improvement Expected (MIE): Reviewed every 6–18 months
  • Medical Improvement Possible (MIP): Reviewed every 3 years
  • Medical Improvement Not Expected (MINE): Reviewed every 5–7 years

If your health improves significantly or you start working above a certain income level, your SSDI benefits may be reduced or stopped after a review.

What Happens During a Review?

A CDR may involve:

  • A questionnaire about your medical treatment, condition, and daily activities
  • Requests for updated medical records from your doctors
  • Possibly a consultative exam if there’s not enough evidence

You’ll be notified by mail when your review is due. It’s important to respond promptly and provide the requested documentation.

What Can Trigger a Review?

In addition to scheduled reviews, your SSDI case might be reviewed sooner if:

  • You report that your condition has improved
  • You return to work or earn more income
  • Medical evidence suggests you're no longer disabled
  • A tip or report is submitted to SSA

Keeping SSA informed of changes in your health, employment, or living situation is essential.

Tips to Stay Prepared
  • Keep medical appointments regularly and follow treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
  • Report any work activity or changes in your condition
  • Be honest and thorough when filling out SSA forms
